History
The Barnhart School, founded in 1959, is affiliated with the Santa Anita Church and is part of the Santa Anita Church Corporation. The Santa Anita Church is a non-denominational, independent Christian church. At its founding, the congregation wanted its interest in humanity to go beyond the church. This outreach is seen in our daily chapel and in the focus given to values, morals, and ethics. While Barnhart School is not a parochial school, our students are offered opportunities to recognize and enhance their spirituality.
Barnhart School’s philosophy is based on ideals, standards of excellence, and dedication to the healthy, balanced development of each student – academically, spiritually, physically, and emotionally.Success and acceptance can be attributed to a fundamental and basic goal: stellar quality education in an atmosphere of respect and love that encourages independence and self-responsibility.At Barnhart, the beauty is in the balance.
It is our purpose to challenge each child to his or her maximum potential. We never presume to know what each child’s ultimate capacities or abilities are, rather we are dedicated to recognizing that all of us are learners on a continuum of unlimited growth. We place a strong emphasis on stimulating high levels of thinking and active application of knowledge through both individual and collaborative efforts. Barnhart School nurtures a healthy, wholesome, and positive self-concept based on authentic achievement and personal relationships.
Barnhart School's small classes and close working relationship with teachers help us promote overall community with our parents. The close partnership fostered between parents and the school is vital to each child's success.Communication and shared values are crucial in supporting our families in a joint effort to provide the best learning environment possible so that all children in our care will flourish.
