Barnhart Girl Scouts are 'Saving the World One Bottle at a Time'
Barnhart's Seventh Grade Girl Scouts have launched a recycling program, Saving the World, One Bottle at a Time. The girls are collecting empty bottles and cans, recycling them and donating the proceeds to St. Elizabeth’s, a charity in Cameroon, Africa, that funds education for students in all grade levels and can send a child to school for as little as $14 a year.
Through a grant from the city of Arcadia, the girls were able to procure new recycling bins for the Barnhart campus. To promote the new program, the girls produced, wrote, directed and starred in a public service announcement to raise awareness among their fellow students on how recycling can help kids in Cameroon. Last year, these amazing girls raised over $900 for St. Elizabeth's.
Shown here are pictures of the girls presenting the recycling program to Barnhart students and photos taken while they were making the video.
