Class of 2013 Gift to Barnhart School
Planters made by graduating class

The graduating Class of 2013 built planters as their class gift to Barnhart School. In their woodshop class, students built these planters under the direction of their teacher, Mr. Crabtree. With the help of their parents, grapes, strawberries and different herbs were planted for future use by Barnhart students.

Congratulations Ryan on your placement in the the Upper San Gabriel Municipal Water District Art Contest! Ryan's art will be published on stickers to promote water conservation and will be advanced to the California Municipal Water District Art Contest to compete with all winning entries. Great job!!!

Barnhart celebrated its annual sports day! A day dedicated to track and field events - from standing long jump to hurdles. All students participate in events, showing their athleticism!

Barnhart School's end of the year culmination event. Classes were open for parents to view their children's hard work and growth this year and looked forward to what the next year would hold for their young learners. There were kelp forests, a poetry slam and pillow planets.

Celebrating 40 Melodious Years

Barnhart School celebrated Judy Stevens and her 40 years of teaching its students. Mrs. Stevens is the Fine Arts Director and has taught music and drama, and led the Barnhart chorus for the past 40 years. Mrs. Stevens will remain on staff as the part-time drama and chorus teacher.

Black History Month - Donzaleigh Abernathy

Barnhart students were treated with a presentation by author and actress, Donzaleigh Abernathy. Donzaleigh Abernathy, youngest daughter of Ralph David Abernathy, was born and raised in the public forefront of the Civil Rights Movement. She has authored a hostory book entitled, "Partners To History" about Martin Luther King, Ralph David Abernathy and the American Civil RIghts Movement.

Barnhart students were able to "experience" an earthquake today. Shaky Quaky is earthquake simulators designed to educate children about how to prepare for and stay safe during an earthquake.

Barnhart 3rd graders were excited to have the Mayor of Arcadia, Robert Harbicht surprise them as their mystery reader! Barnhart 3rd graders have been learning about government elections and were thrilled to have our city's mayor read LaRue for Mayor by Mark Teague. The students asked Mayor Harbicht questions about his job and what it's like to run the City of Arcadia. Thank you Mayor Harbicht for visiting Barnhart School!

Annie Barrows, author of the best-selling series, Ivy and Bean, visited Barnhart School. Ms. Barrows has charmed audiences with endless stories about the kooky things kids do and her writing process.
In addition to writing the New York Times Bestselling Ivy and Bean Series, she is the author if the international bestseller, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, currently in development as a feature film.

Barnhart alumni from the Class of 2009 is working towards his Eagle Scout Award and chose Barnhart School to be the location for his Eagle Service Project. With the help from other scouts in his troop, Cory installed shade awnings in the kindergarten & 1st grade areas, providing needed shade and he refurbished the handball courts.
