The Casino Night Gala winner of this year's "PE Teacher for a Day". Exhausted by the end of the day, our 6th grade student spent the day coaching and teaching the kindergarten - 8th grade students in their daily physical education class.

For their community service project, Barnhart's 6th grade students rallied families and friends to donate blood to the City of Hope.

Black History Month - Donzaleigh Abernathy
Author Visits Barnhart School

Barnhart students were treated with a presentation by author and actress, Donzaleigh Abernathy. Donzaleigh Abernathy, youngest daughter of Ralph David Abernathy, was born and raised in the public forefront of the Civil Rights Movement. She has authored a hostory book entitled, "Partners To History" about Martin Luther King, Ralph David Abernathy and the American Civil RIghts Movement.

Thank you to our parents who helped teach our students the meaning of Chinese New Year! Our students made fans, paper picture cuttings out of red papaer and received red envelopes! Happy Year of the Snake!

Barnhart students were able to "experience" an earthquake today. Shaky Quaky is earthquake simulators designed to educate children about how to prepare for and stay safe during an earthquake.

Barnhart 3rd graders were excited to have the Mayor of Arcadia, Robert Harbicht surprise them as their mystery reader! Barnhart 3rd graders have been learning about government elections and were thrilled to have our city's mayor read LaRue for Mayor by Mark Teague. The students asked Mayor Harbicht questions about his job and what it's like to run the City of Arcadia. Thank you Mayor Harbicht for visiting Barnhart School!

Annie Barrows Visits Barnhart School

Annie Barrows, author of the best-selling series, Ivy and Bean, visited Barnhart School. Ms. Barrows has charmed audiences with endless stories about the kooky things kids do and her writing process.
In addition to writing the New York Times Bestselling Ivy and Bean Series, she is the author if the international bestseller, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, currently in development as a feature film.

Barnhart alumni from the Class of 2009 is working towards his Eagle Scout Award and chose Barnhart School to be the location for his Eagle Service Project. With the help from other scouts in his troop, Cory installed shade awnings in the kindergarten & 1st grade areas, providing needed shade and he refurbished the handball courts.
