Media Services

The Technology & Media Services program is central to the education of Barnhart students. Combining library and technology classes allows students to focus on research, fact-finding, while learning skills that will set them up for success.

All of this begins in kindergarten. Students learn to love information discovery and skills through time with our Library & Media Specialist. In their classrooms our kindergarten through second grade students utilize iPads as an integral part of their education.

The 3rd-5th graders each have a Chromebook provided in their classroom which is not only used in their technology and library classes, but also as a part of their daily work with their homeroom teachers. In these grades the students are developing their typing skills, familiarity with the computer, and create a variety of projects in Google Apps including creating Google Slides presentations, Google Drawings, and practicing writing essays and research papers in Google Docs.

Barnhart utilizes a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) model in our Middle School. Each student has a device such as a Chromebook, MacBook, or PC to use in all of their core classes.  In addition, the Middle School students cycle through a technology exploratory giving them exposure to a variety of budding technologies and skills including coding, word processing, graphic design, keyboarding, and internet safety.
