![]() Bobcat Billboard January 6 - January 16 A Message from our Head of School Tonya Beilstein Dear Barnhart Parents,
Welcome to 2021! We hope you had a relaxing and wonderful holiday break and are enjoying a healthy and happy new year. While the respite of this year’s winter break gave everyone a much needed and well-deserved break, I know our team is looking forward to working with your children this week. Our online instructional program will resume in full swing on Wednesday, January 6th. You should have received a message from our division directors, Rose Ryland and Jaime Hawks, with additional information about the start of Quarter 3, but if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to them, or your child’s teacher.
As expected, the stroke of midnight on January 1st did not eradicate the pandemic and its decimating effects on our society, even though I think we were all secretly hoping that would be the case. But, the clock striking midnight DID give us hope for all that is to come in 2021. As Science (and Faith) both teach us, darkness cannot overcome the light, as light always prevails and continues to shine. I truly believe there is light ahead for all of us in 2021, even though we are still facing some darkness ahead.
In recent weeks, following the holiday season, the cases of COVID-19 in Los Angeles County have absolutely skyrocketed, with hospitalizations, deaths, and testing positivity rates all climbing to new heights. As part of the State and County Health Officers’ Orders, we all need to do our part to minimize the spread of this virus and continue to be a part of the solution. Therefore, we will continue with our online instructional program for the foreseeable future. Our COVID Planning Task Force will be meeting soon to review issues related to this current situation. Although we all want our students back on campus for in-person learning and socialization, the current case rates do not make this feasible in January 2021. We will continue to provide you with updates and information about our program, as we work together to best meet our students’ needs during these unprecedented times.
A few weeks ago I shared that one of the lessons I’ve learned this past year relates to the value of connection. I’ve always felt that relationships are central to the work we’re doing at Barnhart, but during this pandemic, it’s become even more apparent to me that our connections with one another are so important. As always, if you’d like to reach me, I’m only an email away, but seeing your faces and hearing your voices is always so much better. If you’d like to join me for a connection event in the next week or so, please join me via Zoom:

Virtue of the Week: Trust Student Led Chapel. Thank you Samantha C. Jocelyn C. and Taylor Y.
Food Drive - update Thank you Barnhart families for your generous contributions to the Christmas Food Drive on December 17th. The turnout was amazing! We collected almost 300 food items which could feed at least 600 people. We also received 150 dollars, which could help many families as well. Thank you once again for helping the less fortunate have a better Christmas, by providing healthy food options for them. - Sarah R. and Lana S.
